10 thoughts on “The Best Pickles Yet: English Cucumber Pickle Chips

  1. Very good instructions! I enjoyed the research about the growers- interesting! I have made jams and chutneys before but never pickles. Maybe a trip to Costco is in my future!

    1. Hello, Yes, this pickle recipe is one of the best variations I’ve made — easy to make. However, I think that the Costco’s English cucumbers are coming to an end of their run — as least at our store they are almost all gone. The time is now to make these pickles. And, I was surprised to learn of the large scope of hydroponic gardening. Eye-opening to me. I think hydroponic gardening is certainly a future trend. Thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. English cuc’s, especially heirlooms need to be grown on a trellis to ensure the long straight uniform form factor. Gravity is your friend with this method.

      1. I have grown plenty of cucumbers in my garden — some straight some curly — but never an English cucumber variety. So, I’ll take your advice. Definately a trellis helps the cucumbers grow straight and uniform. The ones used in this recipe were grown in a hot house on a trellis — not in a garden. Yes, they are nice and straight. But, nothing compares to a cucumber which has come just out of the garden!!

  2. Hi! I am trying this recipe and just realized I did not have enough cans. Can I leave the pickles/onion in the water/salt overnight?
