This shrimp remoulade appetizer is about as easy as it gets to prepare. For a touch of local flavor, I included the native Louisiana vegetable, mirliton. When served on a holiday buffet, this shrimp appetizer is appealing and tasty–very traditional Louisiana cuisine.

Pumpkin Chiffon Pie is undoubtedly the best pumpkin pie I have tasted. It is from a treasured family recipe that has been served at every Thanksgiving meal in my memory. Light and airy with a gingersnap crust, it’s a great way to end this holiday meal.
About That Sugar Cane
My husband has been making sales calls in the coastal areas of Louisiana during the past couple of weeks. He mentioned that it was fascinating to see the sugarcane harvest in progress which is in full swing in October and November. I decided write this week’s blog post about Louisiana sugarcane.
Apple & Honey Pastry Squares
Cool, crisp fall weather brings changing colors on trees and ripe apples to much of the country. I especially liked fresh apple cider and donuts while living in Michigan years ago. We miss this in southern Louisiana–wishful memories. Then I opened one of my CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) baskets. Surprise, apples were in the basket along with honey and other produce!
