  1. I always looked forward to hearing Susan Stamberg talk about “Mama Stamberg’s Cranberry Relish” recipe on NPR every Thanksgiving. I would listen on the way home from work and although I never made it for my family, I enjoyed this yearly broadcast. I looked forward to hearing this at Thanksgiving for years and years.

Sadly, I just heard Susan Stamberg has passed.

I am making “Mama Samberg’s Cranberry Relish” this year, for the first time, in remembrance of Susan Stamberg.

    1. Yes, I hope making ‘Mama Stamberg’s Cranberry Relish” will become an annual tradition at your home like it is at our extended family Thanksgiving meal! It is a small world — as so many folks from around the country have heard Ms. Stamberg tell the story of the relish on NPR. I hope you will enjoy the story and recipe. Thanks for visitng my blog.

  2. We love cranberries in our family! Last year, I neglected to buy enough cranberries to last us the whole year, hidden like rubies in the freezer. I ran out in April. I have never heard of this relish, but I plan ti make it this year. It sounds like it is right up the alley of our Russian-American friend, Mike!

    1. I love this relish; but, beware, it is different. The horseradish in the relish gives is sort of that Eastern Europe flavor. Yes, fortunately cranberries do last a long time; I’ve stored them in my refrigrator for months.I enjoy using them throughout spring. Enjoy!
